Non-oil export from Bandar Anzali increases 45 percent

Export of non-oil commodities from Bandar Anzali, Gilan province increased by 45.3 percent in the first nine months of the current Iranian year (started March), director general of Gilan Ports and Shipping Organization said on Saturday.

Farhad Montaser Kouhsari told IRNA that during the aforementioned period, some 111,467 tons of non-oil goods were exported via the port city, showing an increase from 76,716 tons of commodities exported in the same period the previous year.

According to the official, the main non-oil export items included mirror, stone, ceramic, dried fruits and foodstuffs.

Touching on the docking of 994 ships in Bandar Anzali port during the said period this year, he added that some 145 ships have berthed in the port which indicates a new record in this respect. He noted that the increase shows the improvement in the efficiency of the port.

Also in the nine-month period, some 3.160 million tons of goods were onloaded and offloaded in the port compared to the 2.552 million tons in the same period last year, indicating a 23.8-percent increase, he said.

During the said period, 133,572 trucks and tankers were offloaded in the port, he added. Having 10 jetties, Bandar Anzali port has the docking capacity for 12 ships simultaneously.
