Is Electricity Truly a Commodity?

¿Is electricity a commodity? ¿Good or service? ¿Is it right or wrong to say "electricity trading"?


The character of "commodity" many confer to the electricity today as one of the arguments to justify the Electricity Industry Reform is questionable. Among other things, calling "commodity" to the electricity means to open the possibility the potential of the gravitational field, which certainly does not look alike in anything to the gas either, be in some future day a “commodity” as well. Electricity is not a fuel as coal or gas. Electricity is not a tangible article because it is a force of the Nature as it is the gravitational field force. Fuels are not natural forces, but material elements of the Nature. At the most we might consider the "forces hoarded" in these material elements that can be liberated by means of an artificial process of energy conversion. Electricity as product is a finely engineered product.
