ASIA: BJ Tubular Services awarded contract by Total E&P Borneo B.V.

BJ Tubular Services has been awarded a contract by Total E&P Borneo B.V. to provide a range of well services in Brunei Darussalam.

This contract provides for hammer conductor-driving, casing and tubing running, onshore shoe tracking and miscellaneous make-up services for three wells on Total’s offshore development in Block B, located approximately 50 kilometres north of the capital city of Bandar Seri Begawan.

Full Range of Services
BJ plans to employ two of its growing fleet of hydraulic hydrohammers to install the three 30-inch conductors. The hydrohammer’s advantage lies within its ability to deliver precise, concentrated blows to the piling column, driving piles deeper and faster than other methods.

The scope of work also includes running 13% chrome tubular completions and expandable liners from the new built jack-up rig Maersk Completer. BJ will use its Chromemaster™ power tongs and specially modified running and handling tools to carry out this work.

New Base to Support Total Operations
Since 2001, BJ Tubular Services has been supporting Total E&P’s drilling operations in the Asia-Pacific region, particularly in Indonesia. With the recent Brunei contract award, BJ decided to open an operations base in Brunei that will be dedicated to supporting Total operations on Block B. The new base will feature shoe track and completion assembly make-up facilities. The Brunei operations will also draw support from personnel and equipment at the BJ base in Singapore.

It’s extremely heartening to witness our relationship with Total expanding, not only in terms of their reliance on our full range of services, but geographically throughout the Asia-Pacific region,” said Kenny Watt, division manager of BJ Tubular Services. “With the new dedicated BJ base in Brunei, I am confident we will be able to support this extensive operation for Total with even greater efficiency and responsiveness,” he added.
