Prosafe has agreed to buy the 21-year-old very-large crude oil carrier M/T Takamathe, which the Norway-based production specialist said would be just right for conversion into a floating production storage and offloading vessel, a facility for which there is "continued strong demand".
No dollar amount for the deal was disclosed.
The 266,286 DWT vessel by MHI Nagasaki shipyard in Japan is "a suitable candidate for several identified projects" Prosafe managers declared Friday.
The Cyprus-registered Prosafe is a leading owner and operator of floating production vessels.
