An oil tanker is on fire at a Nigerian offloading jetty near Port Harcourt after two explosions rocked the vessel, Norwegian business daily DN reported Friday, citing industry sources.
The tanker is not reported near an oil terminal.
Earlier this week the Movement to Emancipate the Niger Delta had sanctioned other groups actions against the oil industry before issuing warnings about an attack today.
The oil producing Delta is livid after efforts at transparency revealed oil company royalty payments were not funding corresponding social change.
