Aker Kvaerner in Aberdeen has signed an agreement with Kingswells School and Bankhead Academy to develop pupils' interest in design and technology throughout their primary and secondary school education. The initiative is called "Determined to Succeed". Student artworks displaying their vision for the future of energy decorate the meeting room at the Aker Kvaerner stand. The secondary school children will be visiting the Aker Kvaerner stand during Offshore Europe week.
In addition, four times a day a group of professional dancers in Aker Kvaerner "costumes" are performing to the company's "Nutcracker" theme music. The performance is based on Aker Kvaerner's award winning Norwegian commercial - a commercial designed to entice students to choose the industrial sciences as their field of study.
As part of the conference, Aker Marine Contractors will present a technical paper on Aker Kvaerner's Pencil Buoy Method on 7 September at 10.30 AM. Henrik Mork, and Johannes Lunde will describe how The patented Pencil Buoy method provides safer, more cost efficient transport and installation of subsea structures.
