Pakistan vows to initiate Iran gas pipeline if India disagrees | Pakistan said Monday that it will initiate bilaterally the multibillion gas pipeline project if India does not agree upon it.
Pakistan is still committed and sincere to the Iran-Pakistan-India (IPI) gas pipeline project, Pakistan Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Tasnim Aslam said.
She told her weekly press briefing that the IPI is an important project as Pakistan needs energy to fulfill its future requirements.
Pakistan's economy is growing while its energy requirements are increasing and the country is facing shortage of energy.
The spokesperson said Pakistan is taking a number of steps to fulfill its energy needs and the gas pipeline is one of the important projects.
"Pakistan is firm to follow the IPI project," she said, adding even without India Pakistan will do it with Iran.
About a recent report of the BBC about Pakistan nuclear program, the spokesperson said Pakistan's nuclear weapons are for its strong defence.
