The Norwegian government has handed out 52 special production license awards to 37 companies in the Awards in Predefined Areas 2007.
The awards, mostly confined to petroleum-producing acreage, cover the North Sea, the Norwegian Sea and seven licenses in the Barents Sea. Officials noted "intense competition" for some blocks among the 113 applications submitted in September 2007.
