With oil purcolating at $100 a barrel, Turkey upped the pressure and waltzed 10,000 troops into Iraq on Friday to hunt Kurdish separatist insurgents.
Citing Turkish media, News agency Reuters reported fighter bombers were flying in support and referred to an Armed Forces Web site: “The Turkish Armed Forces, which attach great importance to Iraq's territorial integrity and stability, will return home in the shortest time possible after its goals have been achieved,” a General Staff statement said.
Turkish raids into Iraq have been known to trigger oil-trading.
