Kyrgyz Parliament Speaker Mohammad Omarov said on Wednesday that his country welcomes contribution of Iranian investors to economic and infrastructure projects in his country.
Omarov made the remark in a meeting with Iran's Ambassador to Kyrgyzstan, Mohammad-Reza Sabouri in Bishkek where he said the Kyrgyz parliament supports expansion and consolidation of ties with Iran.
He further said that the exchange of visits by parliament speakers of the two countries last year served to open new horizons in bilateral relations, expressing hope that the joint economic commission of both countries will start work in near future.
Sabouri, for his part, presented a report on growing ties between Iran and Kyrgyzstan, saying that Tehran gives priority to expansion of ties with Bishkek.
Touching on the exchange of visits by high-ranking officials of both countries in recent years, he noted that promotion of parliamentary cooperation between Iran and Kyrgyzstan, at bilateral, regional and international levels would be effective in utilizing their current potential. The Iranian envoy further termed Iran-Kyrgyzstan political, economic and cultural ties as growing.
