MIDDLE EAST: Iran’s annual oil revenue hits $51b

National Iranian Drilling Company, NIDC, oil services, oil prices, petrochimical, South Pars field, Middle East, Iran, Iran earned 51 billion dollars through exporting crude oil in the previous Iranian calendar year (March 21, 2006 to March 20, 2007), showing a 17 percent rise from its preceding year.

Based on the cabinet’s information center, the country exported 2.415 million barrels of oil per day on average during the yearlong period, indicating an over 1.72 percent increase when compared to the figure of its previous year.

According to the report, the value of new contracts signed in the country’s oil industry from Aug. 23, 2005 to March 20, 2007 amounted to 37.915 billion dollars.


Iran made a 14.235 billion dollar investment in the oil industry in the previous year, showing a 9.1 growth in comparison with that of 2005.

The country’s crude production capacity has increased by 51 barrels per day (bpd) and some fields and reserves with 3.52 billion barrels of crude oil have been explored. The National Iranian Drilling Company (NIDC) has developed its fleet to 24 onshore and offshore rigs and has rented 11 more.


The explored gas reserves hold 1.666 trillion cubic meters of the commodity.


National Iranian Drilling Company, NIDC, oil services, oil prices, petrochimical, South Pars field, Middle East, Iran, Gasoline production by domestic refineries has risen by 8.98 percent and the underway plans aim to increase the daily gasoline output to 126.53 million liters by 2011.


The value of petrochemical products exported from Aug. 23, 2005 to March 20, 2007 indicated a 50 percent growth when compared to that of its 18 months before.


Petrochemical output has increased 28.5 percent and six petrochemical complexes, the largest of their types in the world, have been officially inaugurated or are ready for inauguration in the first half of the current Iranian calendar year (started March 21, 2007).



During the 9th government’s rule, investment in the development plans of South Pars field has increased by 38 percent.


Domestic natural gas refining capacity has risen by 16 percent and the number of villages using natural gas has increased by 89 percent during the past 18 months.
