INDIA: Prime Minister lays foundation stone of ONGC's new office

Prime Minister Manmohan Singh laid the foundation stone of state-run Oil and Natural Gas Corporations' (ONGC) new high-tech corporate office cum energy research centre at Vasant Kunj in south Delhi on Monday. PM laid the foundation stone of Rs 500-crore Rajiv Gandhi 'Urja Bhawan' on the birth anniversary of the former Prime Minister.

"Rajiv Gandhi 'Urja Bhawan' will undertake holistic research in all forms of clean and renewable energy sources to make Rajivji's dream come true," Singh said. UPA chairperson and Rajiv Gandhi's wife Sonia Gandhi was also present on the occasion.

The new building, being constructed on a 36,340-square meter plot, will house ONGC energy centre and corporate offices of group company's - ONGC, ONGC Videsh Ltd and Mangalore Refinery. Petroleum Minister Murli Deora was also present on the occasion.
