The Norwegian Petroleum Directorate has granted Statoil ASA a drilling permit for wellbore 6608/8-2 in the Norwegian Sea.
The drilling program for wellbore 6608/8-2 concerns the drilling of a wildcat well in production licence 352. Statoil ASA is the operator with an ownership interest of 70 per cent, and DONG is a partner with an ownership interest of 30 per cent.
The production licence area, which lies north of the Norne field, consists of the blocks 6608/7 and 8. Production licence 352 was awarded in APA2004 (Awards in predefined areas) with Statoil ASA as the operator.
The area in the production licence has been awarded earlier, but then as production licence 200 (1993-2003). Wildcat well 6608/8-1 was drilled in production licence 200 in 1997.
Wellbore 6608/8-2 will be drilled from the drilling facility Ocean Vanguard in position 66 17` 52.5" north and 8 22´ 36.9" east.
It is a prerequisite for the drilling permit that the other permits and consents required by other authorities have been issued before the drilling activities commence.
