Managing director of Tehran Oil Refinery Company said here Wednesday company's experts succeeded for the first time to design a system to de-mercaptan kerosene.
Speaking to reporters on Wednesday afternoon, Shahabeddin Motaji said, "The design is considered as a universal innovation, adding, "This system can turn kerosene into airplane fuel."
Listing his affiliated company's achievements, he referred to quality improvement of Tehran Refinery products, reiterating, "In order to produce higher quality premium gasoline we have installed an isomeration facility at the refinery."
He said, "This 120 million euro project was clicked at the beginning of the current (Iranian) year (1386 - began on March 21, 2007), and it will be put to use in mid-fall of 2009."
Motaji added, "Our other new project is production of sulfur-free gas-oil, that would enable Tehran Oil Refinery to produce this product for newly manufactured passenger cars that operate on sulfur-free gas-oil, in addition to the inter-city and road busses, for which we already produce low sulfur oil-gas.
He said that production of sulfur-free kerosene, too, is proceeded in order to lower the pollution of that product's usage, adding, "The two above mentioned projects that have been executed on a 320 million euro budget would be operative in 30 months time from now."
Answering IRNA reporter's question of making more resistant the facilities of Tehran Oil Refinery, he said, "Executive work in that respect, too, has already begun, and for instance, our Hydro-Cracker Unit One was re-designed with a 25% increased production capacity." He added, "Reconstruction work at many other units, including the liquid gas and refinery units are in process now."
Motaji said, "So far we have made quake-resistant 40 of this company's oil tanks, in accordance with new standards, and the work for making quake resistant of 15% of our facilities, too is already completed, while the rest of that work would be completed in two years' time."
