UK-based Melrose Resources has said it achieved first production from its West Khilala project in Egypt. The company also reiterated its expectation that its West Dikirnis development will come online by the end of the third quarter of 2007.
Production at West Khilala started at an initial rate of 34.1 mcf per day but has increased steadily to a current level of 63.2 mcfpd, in line with the company's expectations, it said.
Production is on track to achieve the target rate of 80.0 mcfpd by the end of February, it added. Melrose's net production in 2006 totaled 25.4 billion cubic feet of gas and 405.2 million barrels of oil and condensate, it said.
