Some 22 synthetic cycle power plants will be built nationwide by the end of the Iranian year 1391 (to start on March 21, 2013), said an official here Monday.
The official in charge of implementing the Synthetic Cycle Power Plants' Projects at Iran Power Development Organization Ali Bani-Hashemi said Monday that once the power plants are established, more than 3,500 megawatts will be added to the country's power generation capacity.
Bani-Hashemi said that the 12,000 megawatt gas power plants have been either operational or are in the stage of construction. If they are turned into synthetic cycle power plants, 6,000 megawatts will be added to the country's power generation capacity, he added.
