Kazakh president Nursultan Nazarbayev has said ENI will continue as operator of the Kashagan oilfield, and that the Italian oil company’s role was not in question.
But the Kazakh president said he intended to press for compensation or the boosting of Kazakh champion KazMunaiGas’s stake in the consortium ENI leads, Thomson-Financial reported Friday, citing CNBC.
Eni and KazMunaiGaz are joined at Kashagan Exxon Mobil, Royal Dutch Shell, Total, ConocoPhillips and Inpex, by stake size.
