OPEC MEETING: Iran attack to spark $200 oil

Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez warns the US that oil prices could surge up to $200 per barrel if any attack is launched against Iran. "If the US is crazy enough to attack Iran or commit aggression against Venezuela… oil would not be $100, but $200," the Venezuelan President said in the opening statement of the third OPEC summit in Riyadh on Saturday.

"The underlying reason for any aggression is oil," He expounded.

President Chavez also urged the 12 state members of the OPEC to rise against the West's pressure, demanding an increase in the organization's oil output.

While Saudi Arabia is in favor of increasing OPEC oil output, Iran and Venezuela have voiced strong opposition to increasing the production.
