IRAN: President in Assalouyeh to kick off two petrochemical projects

President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad arrived in the southern port city of Assalouyeh to inaugurate Borzouyeh petrochemical complex and also attend the ground breaking ceremony of an Iran-Venezuela joint petrochemical project.


The visiting Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez also arrived in this port city on Monday to attend the ground breaking ceremony of the joint petrochemical project.

The Iran-Venezuela petrochemical project is the world largest aromatic petrochemical complex.


President Ahmadinejad, heading a high-ranking delegation, arrived in Bushehr this morning. He inaugurated Martyr Rais-Ali Delvari dam in Shabankareh region in Dashtestan city this morning.

Upon arrival at the International Persian Gulf Airport of Assalouyeh, the president and his entourage were welcomed by Oil Minister Kazem Vaziri-Hamaneh, Managing Director of National Petrochemical Industries Company Gholam-Hossein Nejabat and several provincial officials.

The petrochemical plant Borzouyeh is designed to produce parazayline, artozayline, benzene, rafinit, heavy aromatics, liquefied gas, heavy and light hydrocarbons and penthane cut.

President Ahmadinejad is also scheduled to visit the South Pars energy region in Assalouyeh to attend the ground breaking ceremony of construction operation for 15th, 16th, 17th, and 18th phases of South Pars gas field.
