MIDDLE EAST: Iran’s annual drilling revenues reach $2b: official

Managing director of the National Iranian Drilling Company (NIDC) announced that the company’s drilling revenues have been registered at about 2 billion dollars during the past Iranian calendar year (ended March 20, 2007).

Heidar Bahmani added that the NIDC totally drilled 177 oil and gas wells last year and has been active in major projects like South Pars, Kish, and Azadegan gas fields. Explaining about the purchase of eight new drilling rigs, the official said the development of drilling fleet of the company has delineated promising outlooks for the its activities.

Bahmani said the company gives top priority to welfare facilities for the staff and their families, adding about 700 young and educated people were employed by the company last year and during early months of the current year.

Achievements of the company in various fields owe to cooperation among its staff, availing of modern technology, and observing international standards in drilling and engineering operations,” Bahmani said.
