The Italian power company Enel said its net profit in 2006 was 22% lower than the previous year, but that was because it benefited from gains for one-off items in 2005 particularly the sale of a power grid operator. Enel, which is Italy's former electricity monopoly, said it is targeting better operating results for this year.
