President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and Kazakh Prime Minister Karim Massimov participated in the event.
Baku grain terminal joint venture of Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan was formed within the framework of mutually beneficial economic cooperation. The decision on the establishment of the terminal was supported by the governments of both countries with the purpose of Kazakhstan's grain export stabilization and provision of Azerbaijan’s population with highly qualified grain and grain products.
Construction of the terminal began in April 2006. The project costs USD 6 million.
The enterprise is able to process about 500 thousand tones of grain a year. It will supply the countries of Caucasian, Black Sea regions and the North of Africa.
