Halliburton chief executive David Lesar raked in more than $16 million in compensation in 2006,
The package came as the second-largest US oilfield services company's earnings fell slightly.
In addition to that pay package, he also cleared about $21.4 million from exercising previously awarded stock options and stock awards in 2006.
Lesar, who plans to move to Dubai as the company opens a new headquarters in the Middle East, was paid a salary of $1.3 million, $6.6 million in incentive-based compensation, and $7.5 million of stock and option awards.
He also received about $947,740 of other compensation including $206,989 for personal use of the company plane and $314,749 from restricted stock dividends.
Halliburton is in the process of spinning off its engineering and construction group KBR, which is the Pentagon's largest private contractor in Iraq.
