RUSSIA: ONGC, Gazprom to cooperate in oil, gas exploration

Oil and Natural Gas Corp (ONGC) has signed an agreement with Russia's state-run Gazprom to jointly explore oil and gas fields in India, Russia and other countries. India's flagship oil and gas explorer, ONGC and Gazprom have agreed to expand mutual co-operation in the hydrocarbon and power sector and a protocol document was signed on February 8, by ONGC Videsh Ltd Managing Director RS Butola and Gazprom Deputy Chairman AI Medvedev in Goa, an ONGC statement said here.

"The protocol agreement envisages co-operation in exploration and exploitation of oil and gas fields in India, Russia and third countries, midstream and downstream oil and gas projects in India and Russia, LNG supplies to India and CNG related projects in India," it said.

Sensex plunges by 113 points
The benchmark Sensex plunged by over 113 points on the Bombay Stock Exchange on Friday on heavy selling by funds in stocks led by steel and capital goods segments. The 30 share index, Sensex, dropped by 113.19 points at 14,538.90 as foreign and domestic funds resorted to profit selling in metal and capital stock at their existing higher levels. Selling activity sparked when shares in all segments picked up on general investors and funds buying.
